Thanks for the swift reply! But the ratings difference of three times the speed is probably (almost certainly) not even in the neighbourhood to a hundred points. And another complicating factor is that parallel search can in many cases be less speedy than a single cpu for example a 1GHz processor running the same program as a say 4*1GHz processor might finish first to the same depth as the supposedly faster parallel search (faster but way less efficient). True there is a hardware advantage in SMP, but it's debatable if it is enough to guarantee hardware/software supremacy. Now that I think about it, there is a hidden advantage in parallel programs: they are non-deterministic and therefore less prone to repeat any home preparations. A small advantage but still:) I think the planned matches will be fun in any case. Regards Dan Andersson
