It seems CCC is talking about nothing but Tiger! :) O yeah, and ChessMaster 8000, that's true. It seems some programmers have work to do, else we won't know what fritz was in a short time.... [D]3Q4/6k1/2N1p3/P1p1pq2/4pb1P/1P6/5P2/5K2 w - - 0 1 Nice to see there are still differences between engines. I let Fritz, Hiarcs 7.32, Junior 6, Nimzo 8 and Gandalf 4.32h analyse this position. All found the solution in around 18-20 seconds. Junior topped the bunch with 13 seconds. Also Schredder 4 (can't afford me Schredder 5 with all the useless peripherals I don't want or already have :(....) found it very quickly on my PIII@850MHz, 512 Mb RAM. But Chess Tiger and especially Gambit Tiger didn't find 1. Qg8+! (1...Kxg8 2. Ne7+ Kf7 3.Nxf5 exf5 4. a6! although the program should be able to play 'va banque' from time to time......:) (broke off analysis after some 15 minutes) FWIW, BTW because IMHO YMMV (that's a lot of acronyms). Or I didn't RTFM of Gambit Tiger properly? :) J.
