And while I'll agree that a champion deserves a certain measure of respect, you must agree that Karpov won the title under conditions that were *extremely* favorable for him. The truth is that he is the FIDE title holder because he won 2 games at a G/25 time control. His tournament results since then have been poor (for someone who calls themself World Champion)... Anyway, here's the latest rating list - the most objective indicator of chess strength I can think of...
