Forgive, yes I see it now after some analysis, both moves can draw.
What happened in actual game is like this: Crafty - Deep Fritz, G15
1...f4 2.d5 cxd5 3.Kxd5 ...

2...cxd5?? I think is very tempting with both engines under time pressure.
I guess that the move f4 has some complicated lines.
