Subject: Info about Deep Tiger!?

Author: Ingo Bauer

Date: 04:55:56 04/20/01

In the German Fora CSS Ed Schroeder asked Bertil Eklund:

>>Something else...
     >>When I announce a Rebel or Tiger running on 8 CPU's is it allowed to
     >>participate in your play-off? This is not a hypothetical question.
     >>Ed

Answer from Bertil Eklund .

     >Hi!
     >I explicitly wrote in my recommendation that I was very sorry that
Christophes program (at least in the near future) isn't capable of using 8
     cpus.
     >I also said it could have a good chance to qualify on say an A1333 vs the
others on say 2x1000. I am glad to see the results of Tiger(s), so
far almost every result is extremely good (almost unbelievely good!) But I
don't believe it is so good that it is better then Deep-x on 8 cpus.
The answer was based on these conditions. Nothing more. Nothing less. I
also know (or has good reasons to believe, from what I have
heard) that the "new" Deep-versions is stronger then the commercial Deeps.
     >I hope I can be up and running the Tiger(s) and Deep-Fritz on the next
hardware-level in the end of the month.
     >Unfortunately I have some problem with one of my 450s so I can't use Tiger
or Shredder5, other programs work (memory?) On the other
450, I only have 1cd space) for endgames, so I can't use it for other
things then entertaining speed-games with the Tiger(s)
     >PS
     >I have spoked with mr Levy! He is a true english gentleman and invited me
for a dinner or lunch and a bottle of champagne! Anyway I have
never been to London and have no intensions to go there in the (near)
future either.

Reanswer and question from Ed Schroeder:

     Bertil,

You have not answered my question, do you realize?

     I repeat:

When I announce a Rebel or Tiger running on 8 CPU's is it allowed to
participate in your play-off? This is not a hypothetical question.

Your argument to ask in public for a multi-Tiger is not very convincing.
Producers usually are not going to give you a view in the kitchen. What
you should have done is asking in email + giving the backgrounds about the
event and the demand from BGN to play on a multi-PC like you have done with
     the other candidates.

You still have a chance to correct things as I have understood the play-off
has not started yet. The Kasparov web-site states you start the play-off
     beginning next week.

     Ed
