Bob implied that the two independent people _can_ be influenced by ChessBase, which wouldn't have been a possibility under normal circumstances. I merely stated that it is conspicuous that the selection process was almost certain to result in ChessBase only. Furthermore, that I was surprised about the satisfation displayed by Amir Ban given the meagre negotiation result. At least the parts known by Bertil's post. Especially given the fact that he was the only one left besides Frans, giving them a considerable advantage. Everything is obviously speculation, but it adds up. We have motive (lots of money and publicity) and opportunity (biased selection process). The actual proof is still a little hazy. >Relevant to what. Who says they would have left either way?. What would they have to lose if they're the only ones left? Would they be kicked out and replaced by Deep Blue if they negotiated? No, obviously not. The little negotiation process looks good as it saves face for both parties. Amir & Co showed that they can't be pushed around and BGN would still have a match without problems for Kramnik. >Who's to say they wouldn't have negotiated with Shredder in? Noone, but that wasn't the case at hand and not a likely scenario. >And who says they couldn't negotiate with Shredder in? Shredder wouldn't have been "in" given the circumstances leading up to the invitation. >The rules negotiated would have applied to all. It would be rather unlikely that Millennium would have said "Thanks!" and joined. Especially given the very subtle changes introduced. >Also who's to say even when >they negotiated if those terms weren't accepted by BGN that they wouldn't have >still accepted the invite. Noone, but that would be rather silly given their status as the only ones left. The mutual dependence resulted in the negotiation result. Mogens.
