There are probably 2 or 3 places you can look, one is what I said before: Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs (look for Cable software) And the others are: Settings -> Control Panel -> Network (remove things you don't need :) Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager (look for questionmarks) But be really careful messing with those last two! Probably you'll have to get someone to do it for you? I would come in a jiffy, but ... hey ... just install w98(se) on your w95 comp, that would solve all probs ... >ha, like I understand any of that LOL ok one more L. I know, just wanted to warm you up for another LAN install. :) >>Serial/Parallel links are very much slower than LAN ones. Just look at the back of your computers, there are connectors on your lan cards, right? You can connect those with a UTP CAT5 cable (no wait!), just like you connect your com ports with a nullmodem cable. Just make sure you've got the right cable, coz there are 2 kinds, just like with serial cables (cross or normal). The other kind is for use with a Network Hub, won't bother you with that now ... The only thing in your case is, that you have to put a second Lancard into your internet pc, coz the one that's already there is in use by the cable modem (don't remember if it's possible to use only one card there, don't think so). I don't have that prob, coz my internet connection is thru USB, haha! No worries, mate! Just 2 cards, 1 per pc here. After you've installed the card + cable, windows will install some drivers, devices, protocols, etc ... then you have to change some things in the network, via the 3rd line I gave above, to make it safe (switch off filesharing for internet, but switch it on for your lan, etc ...). It's not difficult once you've seen it. :) >I had thought before about splitting my internet connection to both >pc's but see no benefit for doing it?. Well, that's exactly what I was trying to do ... and failed! But it should be easy :) It's in w98se, and it's called ICS, internet connection sharing. So now I can just surf on 1 pc, but can still copy files easily to/from the other. >OK just that last bit :-) If you want more where that came from ... just call me ... you know the number! >Sarah.
