The position:white king e7 queen g5 pawn h6 black king h8 queen a1 pawns d5,h7 It take junior4.6 almost 10 minutes in my computer to see Qe3 give mate in 9 while after that move it declare mate against itself very quickly(21 seconds). fritz5 cannot see it give mate even after Qe3 Qb2 and its evaluation function after these moves(something like 3 pawns adventage for white is very strange). I understand that fritz5 does not understand positions that there is no threat but I do not understand its evaluation function. another problem fritz5 has is that its evaluation function is sensitive to the initial position it analyzes. this is the reason it lost in the wmcc championship against stobor (only after it traded queens it understood that it was wrong. I understand that this help it to be faster but I think it will be better if it will check if its evaluation function is changed in the main line and if yes it will use an evaluation function that is not sensitive to the initial position even if it will be slower
