It is clear and official that it is not Champion vs Champion.
It is officially best prog vs Kramnik.
Shredder has been invited so the "sport" part has been respected. Then it sounds
absolutely logical that the best program has to be determined by a qualifying
round.
What is not logical is that one of the best program of today has simply been
IGNORED in the selection process.
The excuse is "you have no commercial SMP version".
I can provide a SMP version, but it is not a commercial one. BTW, Deep Blue has
been invited, and it has no commercial version. The versions of Deep Fritz and
Deep Junior that are going to compete are not the commercial versions.
But who cares, no commercial SMP Tiger, so Mr Théron is out.
The next excuse is: "you will provide your SMP version too late". Good joke! I
have been told only a few days ago.
This leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.
