When you say "CM8K" I am assuming you are meaning the GUI and not one of its engines? Either way, I haven't heard of any reports about the GUI taking significant or unexplained large quantities of time away from the engines. The best way to see if everything is running properly is simply by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and looking at the Task Manager. If there is an EXTRA instance of "TheKing" (meaning one more than the number of computer players in the game), then there is likely a "Mentor" engine instance running in the background. This can be caused by: 1) Checking the "Chessmaster" checkbox in the Thinking Lines window. 2) Selecting the "Chessmaster" radiobutton in the Visual Thinking window. 3) Using any of the following features: Game Analysis, Advice, Solve for Mate. If there is an extra instance of "TheKing" when NONE of the above is true, then there is a problem. The best program I know of to watch CPU usage for all processes is TaskInfo2000, which you can get by going to: www.iarsn.com/index.html#/download.html Johan is still looking closely at the latest SSDF games to determine if a problem still exists with the test setup. jm
