You shouldn't assume that the solutions given in the test suite files are in fact correct. The humans who composed these problems or played the games in which they occurred can make mistakes: fail to find the optimal move, or fail to consider other moves that are just as good. Some of the test suite solutions are more reliable than others. The "Win At Chess" problem set has been used a long time and there are well-known corrections to the problem solutions as originally published. Also if you can get hold of the "ECM98" test suite, that one has been through a debugging process also and is probably more reliable than most.
