Hi Moritz:
Probably CST, any version, is not so good against computer and maybe it
would had not won the prize, as you say, but at least a better position
than his actual 13º position. The essential point, howewer, is that
against humans -that's the purpose of the very existence of programs,
isn't it?- CSTAL seems to me a lot more dangerous than, say, genius 5. I
don't say I lose less against Genius 5 or that G5 cannot win against
human, but seems to win less on the ground of his ideas or initiative
than taking advantages of human failure. Even If G5 would get more
points against me than CSTAL, -is not the case- I would feel the same:
CSTAL is better fitted and so stronger for playing humans even if G5
could get more point in a particular match against CSTAL. Feelings,
yes, this is all matter of feelings. Another feeling: I am sure that
CSTAL has received a lot less attention that what deserves, lot less
than other programs that does not add anything new to our field, just
more of the same.
by the way, did you play CSTAL wiht the new engine against G5 or with
the Paris version?
Cheers
Fernando
