Apparently game 12 is in dispute. Fritz's eval was -0.5 at the end of the game, so it's hard to say why it resigned (and if it did, why should there be human interference? This would be no different than a program losing on time because it overstepped the time limit by 1 second). Considering that an overnight session was lost already, we have to wonder what kind of rules you need for this type of competition. Autoplayer is the easiest way to handle the situation, but as we can see, unless there's human supervision, problems can and do arise. What if in that overnight session a critical win by one of the programs was lost? I realize that this is probably the most practical way of carrying out this qualification match. But wouldn't it make sense to play it live over the internet? At least the autoplayer problems would disappear (although other problems could arise, like connectivity problems). Each side would not necessarily have to have the same hardware (why should they?). But this is all a moot point. Perhaps lessons will be learned from this event for the future. Baldo
