16777216 x 2000 = 33,554,432,000 maybe for each file so 33GB per file again
times that by between 70 and 200 files if not more does anyone know how many
files are needed for the 10mans? It could be done just look at the
advertisements in various magazines for storage you can get terrabytes of
storage i think they cost about 100 or $200,000. At this point it's better to
just wait untill better technology and improvements in tablebase design. If we
could fit all 3-6man tablebases in 1 GB which might be possible one day then you
could use 1 TB for all to 10Man. I find it interesting that you asked about 10
man instead of 7 or 8 man, I don't know if this was arbitrary you ask about the
ten man but from things i have read there are a few endgames at this point which
are very important "in D. Hooper's: Pocket guide to endings,
are about 300 positions, all completely analysed, and of these 300,
only 35 have >=7 men on the board. Thus nearly 90% of all "endgame
knowledge" concerns positions with <=6 men (and all such positions are
databasable?" To quote the test suite file i have. But you never know how much
you need :

Benko- Bilek Budapest 1957
is a good example with 9 pieces for each side 7pawns King and Queen
