Hi Dann,

Chest needs 81 seconds on a K7, 600 MHz (350 MB hash) to find that there
are 3 different key moves to solve the mate in 8.  I give a PV for each:

Bxb5 Kb7  Rxc6  c1=N  Bxe2  Nxe2  Rxb3+ Ka7   Rc7+   Ka6   Nc6    f2+   Kxf2
=*=  Ra7#
Rxb3 f2+  Kxe2  c1=B  Nxb5  Kb7   Na7+  Kc7   Rxc6+  Kd8   Rb7    f1=B+ Kxf1
=*=  Rc8#
Rxc6 f2+  Kxe2  e5    Nxb5  Kb7   Nd4   Ka7   Rxb3   c1=N+ Rxc1   f1=B+ Rxf1
=*=  Ra1#

The complete solution tree is much larger.  =*= means "any legal move".

This time you seem to not have used Chest, so let me ask: what did you use,
and how long did it take?
