To night, at 9:30 PM, Rodrigo Vásquez, a GM, the second -or even the best by now- chilean chess player will engage Gambit Tiger II in a 40 moves-one hour game to be celebrated in my home. Vásquez -as Christophe Theron will remember- played an old experimental Tiger version that Christophe was nice to send me in those times and although Rodrigo got the point, it was a difficult task for him. Gambit Tiger will be operated by me and will play in my fastest computer, with a an AMD-K-2 motherboard running at 480 Mhz, with 128 Mg Ram. I will set it to play antihuman in his most agressive mood. If Christophe wan to change something of all that, he can post here at once or email me for the same. Rodrigo es a tactical, resourceful player with a lot of wit and what's more, a nice guy with a laugh in his face almost all the time. To encourage his perfomance I promised him, in case he get the full point, a tasteful meal with one of my most expensive red wine bottles, one that I have in reserve in my "cave" as a valued treasure. With such a price a man like him, cheerful and loving of good stuff in the table as he is, surely will do his best. If he looses, he will get a hot-dog and a coke. Maybe also a kick in the ass. One aditional interesting feature of this game between Rodrigo and this absolutely superior version of Tiger compared to that he knew is the fact that, as Rodrigo told me, he is going to use a theoretical openning line he has been preparing since long ago. He is willing to see if Gambit can discover some holes in his preparations. As the games proceeds, I will annotate his comments. Probably also we'll do a post mostem exercize that will be duly annotated. All this will happens IF Rodrigo does not get cold feet, if a meteor does not land in his head or any other thing of the sort does not happens to impede him coming to my home. So stay tunned. I will post everything tomorrow morning. If the game is not played, I will keep a discrete silence. You never know with a chess player.... Fernando, the producer.
