The TSCP test is not valid for general chess speed. TSCP and used memory runs entirely inside the small L1 cashe (much should be avalible in virtual registers) of the P4 and seems to be very predictable (probably coarse eval and the lack of TT lookup) and thus not incur much branch prediction overhead.
