Subject: A Crafty problem or some limitation of ERT by Chess Partner

Hello!!

ERT (Engine Research Tool) has a feature called threshold which is applicable in
running engine/engine match. This threshold which is settable prior to the match
will determine which engine will win for a game. Under the ERT if white is
better the score is positive if black is better the score is negative. Using
Crafty as white has no problem, but if Crafty is black and white is better,
Crafty will display a negative score, it should have been a positive score. So
what happened is the threshold becomes useless and Crafty is mated maintaining a
negative score.
This threshold will function only if both engines agreed in the score. If white
evaluates the position as better for him say (+3) and if black agrees (+3) then
the game will be stopped and 1 point will be awarded to white. Same for Black
but with a negative score.

Is this due to Crafty's scoring mode, always (+) if white is better
otherwise (-) regardless of the color it takes? Or maybe some problem with the
ERT. I have tested Yace, it works fine whether handling black or white.

Regards,
Dinan
