Backgammon players have solved that problem for their game.
They can compute a table, that gives the overall probability of winning the
match, given the probabilities of the different outcomes of a single game.
This table is computed with dynamic programming, that means you start with
simple matches and build up your solutions combining them.
I have seen an excel-sheet, where this is done.
Unfortunately most programs dont use something convertable to a winpercentage,
to judge their positions, or am i wrong here?
