I still think it is insulting and incorrect to consider Kramnik's desire to have the production program beforehand as being 'unfair'. Exactly how many games will the 'production' program have played against GMs before the match? If *any*, how many will have been published? DeepWhatever will have access to 1000 of Kramnik's games versus GMs to analyse, locate weaknesses in, evaluate openings, etc. Why should Kramnik be denied access to similar information? Nobody was *forced* to accept these conditions. DeepWhatever's team certainly had the right to say 'No thanks, we won't play.' But it seems disingenious and insuting to start off the match with 'This is unfair, but...' If Kramnik wins people will assert that it wasn't really his skill, but his access to the computer. Given this attitude, he has no possible way to win this match. *That* attitude is what is unfair. To me, this is quite simple. If the program is better, it will win. Regardless of Kramnik's having access to it. If it isn't better, then it deserves to lose. DeepX has access to Kramnik's games to find a weakness, Kramnik will *now* have access to DeepX's games to find a weakness. Kramnik isn't whining about how unfair the match is, even though this computer has infinite access to (electronically) printed opening books, which he doesn't, during the game. He didn't *have* to play this match. The computer chess community benefits more than he does from this. To me, it seems petty and petulant to preface every comment about this match with the phrase 'unfair'.
