I would rather not guess on a match like that. But unless it was clear that the program losing the first fifty games suffered shortly after the opening in all the games, I would go with chance influenced to some (unknown) degree by learning. It also would depend on the level of modifiable settings like you mention. But I don't know how much the authors could change during the Fritz-Junior match, if any. Mogens.
