My humble opinion about (DJ or DF) vs Kramnik Match I have been read and admire Mr. Irazoqui since he write for Computer Chess Report. When someone question Mr. Irazoqui some days ago, about his seriousness for manager this match I feel indignant like all majority CCC members. I have followed this topic all the way until now, and I reserve to post my humble opinion about it, thinking and hoping that in the final all this will be clear. Lamentably this is not the case. Now I have to say Mr. Irazoqui’s current behavior is not coherent with his normal conduct. Reasons: Until I understand BGN, Mr. Irazoqui and Mr. Eklund claim this event is, using theirs words “The most worthy” PC chess program vs. Kramnik. NOTE: That if they call this event for example: best of DJ or DF vs. Kramnik, then there is NO PROBLEMS, because anybody is free of make any tournament if get the resources needed. But this is not the case they claim is the BEST or strong Computer chess program vs. Kramnik. Then, with this very important match a series of strange mistakes emerge. And I said strange because is not Jhon, nor Juanito, nor Manuel, nor Mary who manager this tournament, is a BIG company name BGN, and high caliber manager Mr. Irazoqui, then of course is not room for improvise. Lets name some of this “strange mistakes” I) No proper invitation to all strong programs who deserves compete equal or more Than DJ or DF for the “Actually BEST Computer chess program” In many cases no simple invitation. For avoid invalid arguments about this, I most develop this point more detailed. Somebody can say BGN demand SMP versions. Then explain me the followed: A) WHO are the experts in Computer Chess BGN or the top guys post here including Mr. Eklund? B) Then if the Computer Chess’s experts are the top guys AND if BGN want the BEST computer chess program for match Kramnik, then why BGN demand SMP versions? I am doing the logic wrong? C) Ok, BGN is expert in Computer Chess, then why ask the services of Mr. Eklund? D) Ok, they demand SMP versions (8 PROCESORS) for publicity purposes, then BGN gain the 8 PROCESORS header, but loose the security to have the current BEST Chess Program. Which is more important? The 8 PROCESORS header or the BEST CURRENT CHESS PROGRAM header? E) Ok, is all in contract, the contracts are signed, the deadlines, etc… then Mr. Irazoqui and Mr. Eklund I most suppose you was there when compose those contracts or at least you was consulted, or not? IF YES is hard for me to believe that you both let this things happens, include the 3 months for Kramnik “PRACTICE” with the program. F) Why they claim is Best computer chess program vs. Kramnik instead BEST SMP computer chess program vs. Kramnik? G) Why they leave out SMP Tiger and others SMP strong programs that already exist? H) There is not others super fast computer that can match power of 8 fast Pentium processor take in account the loss power for parallel processing? I) Is always best a SMP X program in 8 fast processor than Y program in Super fast single processor? J) Was DeeperBlue invited for play in 8 PROCESORS, IF YES then is not a serious proposal. IF NOT then DB is allow to play and is not a SMP version, so why is not allow others STRONG programs to play in super fast hardware? II) The match with Kramnik is in October and he ask 3 month (unacceptable of course, is better not play or try then with the same ethics with programming some tricks) so he want the program in July then why all this hurry, hurry that hurt the selections of the BEST Chess Programs, this is a strange case of the method more important than the goal: select Best Chess program, or is not the goal? NOTE: you can say tie by contracts then the question converts to why compose a contract where the main goal (choose best program) is relegate to foolishness with out necessity? III) This intended to be a great, a very big event, similar to DB-Kasparov. Then why so little from the announcement of the event to qualification matches? Why so little time for the programmers, why only from May to July (last version most be delivered to Kramnik in July) to prepare against WCH Kramnik? Do you know for WCH match one can prepared for month include years? Do you know how much time takes DeeperBlue for tune against Kasparov? Do you know how much time for prepare for AEGON, of course you know all this, then WHY so little time for programmers for this so IMPORTANT EVENT. IV) The Worst of all this strange things is the big silence of Mr. Irazoqui, he can argue that he don’t post because all personal attacks, but we are not asking you respond the personal attacks, we all only want some info about de decisions, some explanation of the facts, maybe some recognition of doing 1 or 2 decisions bad, anything that clear all this a little. Then you can think you don’t have to explain nothing, IF this is the case then let me tell you that you MOST HAVE (obligatory) explain at least to the Chess Programmers BECAUSE you are claim to have the BEST or strong current Chess Program will be out of your qualification match and that Mr. Irazoqui affect the interest of all others programs that are not in your qualification match. Of course you have the option to explain to programmers by mail or other means and not necessarily by CCC, but until I understand this not happened. Or you can change the name of the event and put for example: BEST of DF or DJ vs. Kramnik, then we all be with out right of questions you. This all remember me the case where the injustice win, famous case Deep Junior vs. M. Adams, in that time I was admirer of Mig Greengard I immolate him like I Admire and immolate Mr. Irazoqui like I Admire and immolate a few here in CCC because his Great and Wonderful work combine with his impartial way of behave. In that time I was very sad when saw MIG defending a position that let DJ with out chance wrongly, then instead of stop an think, he go on defending the same position. Then I sadly remove this person from my little pedestal. From time to time in live you see good persons who succumb to interest and never be the same again. Be important part of important event is very good, but change that, for the work of all your life, for your integrity? Is 100% better wait for next buss. In my country this match will get to the News Paper by his real name: Best of DJ or DF vs. Kramnik SUMMARY: Join all this and more I have arise the follow impression, (no fact): BGN don’t want BEST silicon opponent, they want to say they have BEST silicon opponent. WHY? BECAUSE BGN don’t want a fair match between BEST silicon opponent and Kramnik, they want Kramnik (his WCH) beat the machine, something kasparov couldn’t do.
