There are two tremendous errors here:


1.  Shredder was the "natural choice".  For reasons already given.

2.  Ferret had finished higher than either Fritz or Junior at the last "open"
WCCC event.  It was not considered.  Just picking the two top entries from the
SSDF list is a _poor_ way of choosing programs.  Ferret may be better than
either.  Yet it was never given a thought.

The decision making for this match was not just "poor".  It was _terrible_.

(no, I don't think the SMP Rebel or SMP Tiger discussion is a problem.  They
are not SMP in any public way, so not knowing about such a possibility is not
an issue IMHO.  But any fool knows about SMP Ferret and how it has done.)
