Subject: Test Set Gauntlet 3770 Positions Not Solved in 3minutes

So Here's how Far i've come out of adding all the epd Files from Dan Corbit's
Site and this file of 6000 Positions some of which weren't at Dan's FTP site let
alone even in EPD, Someone told me that they were pre- SAN when in actuality
they were probably in FEN. I started by removing the C.A.P files which got me to
around 17,000 Positions then I removed over 90% of the doubles which left me
with 10,800 Positions. I am sure that some were not really solved as Fritz would
probably change it's mind soon thereafter so i could say the ones that were
"Solved" need to be looked at by hand but that can wait. The Still rather large
file of unsolved positions most probably will be solved in under 9 minutes on my
now dinosaur Athlon 800 but i will see if that doesn't cut it i will set it to
15, 20, 27, or 30Minutes and try again. At that point i have to start running
these at 3 times the amount of time as before so i am looking at anywhere from
45 or 60 minutes to , 1 and a half hour which would take over 5 months so i
hope these get solved under 9 minutes or i win the lottery and can get a dual
2Ghz machine. I already Know that a few will NOT be solved in under 1Hr on my
machine but other software will probably do this. The whole idea here was to
find out within hardware/money limits which chessprograms used together will
solve 90% or more of the Problems out there. Seeing how i can't do the C.A.P
positions just yet these 10,800 end up being mmmm of 16 million C.A.P positions
I will only end up knowing what is needed to solve the major testsets. I think
that if that hardware was available You could have a near 2600 Level Opponent
for real overkill at your disposal. I will keep you updated
