After the results with SS=12 against Yace, I used them against Crafty 18.08, but, to my disappointment the miracle didn't repeat, and, at the contrary, after 200 games GT won only 58 vs 42 against Robert Hyatt's engine, where with the default setting (after 200 games) it was well above the 70%. So I tried again against Junior 6 using the Nunn positions and the results were, again, not confortating. GT vs J6 (Nunn positions) 10.5 - 9.5 SS=12, with SS=6: 12 - 8. So, well, poor me, I was very depressed, I should have waited to proclamate the settings as better, I thought. However, working a bit with the brain and elaborating on the things said by Christophe about SelSafety I thougth that maybe I could try something else, and so I've setted SS to 3 and More Gambit to 1 (I think you could extrapolate the theory behind it). Well, till now it seems to work quite well. GT vs F6e* (Nunn positions 40 moves in 40 min., no book naturally) 16.5 - 3.5, normal settings: 13 - 7 GT vs J6 (idem) 14.5 - 5.5, normal settings 12 - 8 GT vs Hiarcs7.32 (idem) 16.5 - 3.5, normal settings 14.5 - 5.5 I've also played 200 games at time 5 min. against Tiger 14 GT (modified settings) - CT 14 (normal settings) 78% vs 22% GT (modified settings) - CT 14 (SS=3) 75% vs 25% Now, naturally, take these settings with a grain of salt, since I'm only at the beginning, but I think further testing would be interesting, so I hope someone will try them, me excluded. I could say only a thing, GT with these setting becomes very funny to watch. * Yes, I've read the post about Sarah about the fact that the e version of Fritz is weaker so I will try next week against Fritz 6a. Well, I think that at last I've entertained someone ;-) P.S.: the 3D pieces for ChessPartner are almost ready, next week I will post an URL where you could download them, or I will give them to Ed, if he wants, to put them in his website. Becoming crazy, Fabio.
