This happens to me all the time.  Method 1:  Mouse cord has a bit of "spring"
or "twist" in it.  It will tend to pull the mouse around, particularly if you
bump the table;  method 2:  mouse cord dangles off back of table to rear of
computer.  This puts a bit of gravitational force applied indirectly through
the cable to the mouse.  The cable tries to slide off the back of the table
(or in my case, off the side) and a bump of the table will see the mouse
sometimes end up totally off the table.

Then I just toggle DTR on and off.  :)

Or maybe no input... just a "condition" that causes someone to take action.
