Subject: Fritz 5

Is it not about time for this discussion to end. I have seen no proof
what so ever that Fritz 5 plays bad chess. Yes the program can be beat
like any program. But I would not toss out all the great games Fritz 5
has won based on a few lost games. In fact If the program plays as bad
as some would tell you There is no way in hell I would have got a 70%
plus win percentage on ICC. I would also bet that any programmer out
there who has tested Fritz 5 vs there own program knows dame well how
good Fritz 5 is. They test programs the same way I do, By playing them.
Some would say that it plays ugly moves. But since when does an ugly
move = bad chess. To me a good move is just that a good move. To be bad
does not the move have to lose the game some how. What a human may judge
as ugly has no bearing in chess unless the move can be refuted. And from
what I have seen Fritz 5 moves do not get refuted much by man or
machine. Fritz 5 so far has done the best of any program I have tested
to date. In fact I have never recieved as much e-mail regarding a
program as I have gotten from testing Fritz 5 on ICC. In the e-mail
people were asking were they could get a copy of Fritz 5. This is the
response I am getting from players who have watched some of my test
games with Fritz 5. I have not had this kind of reaction with any other
program I have tested on ICC. You don't get this kind of reaction from a
bad program. If you look back to the post I made when this all started
you will see I was not a Fritz 5 Fan. You will also see me say this
program is not the best program out. But I had the 5.00 version of
fritz. So I retested the program with the junior upgrade. To the version
that SSDF tested. I also said if I see data that shows me that Fritz 5
is the best program out I would change my mind about Fritz 5. Well I
have seen nothing but good results from my testing so I can say looking
at the data I have seen that Fritz 5 is the best program I have ever
tested. Its too bad that other people can not look at facts and judge
Fritz 5 without bias. Instead they would rather go down with the ship
instead of saying they may have been wrong.
Well I do not see the logic in that approch. So after seeing how good
Fritz 5 is I jumped ship. My only conclusion why other can not judge
Fritz 5 fairly is that the have same kind of bias against Fritz 5. I
don't know why they have this bias but from reading what they say its
clear to me that no matter what Fritz 5 does there minds are set. And
come hell or high water there not going to change there minds.
