It seems that PC133 and DDR memory are at parity now, why not go for DDR. And if
you are going to buy a DDR motherboard now 760 is the highest performer but much
more expensive KT266 is cheaper but a tad slower and ALi Magic 1 is truly cheap
but not that fast with the recommended bios (e.g. slow an reliable or fast and
maybe crashing, that might change). SiS is demoing a beast of a chipset that
seems much faster than the lot. Best price performance for chess alone would be
a Athlon-C 1.33 GHz on a KT133A motherboard (not the KT133 though) but a dual
board is close behind if you only want to run SMP programs.
