John Merlino from the Chessmaster team who is posting here regularly, said
recently he will let CCC know when the site is up again:

UBI Soft has announced that they have acquired The Learning Company's
Entertainment Division including Chessmaster... they have made this small
webpage for CM8000:

http://www.ubisoft.com/games/gameinfo.php?id=79

But they forgot to include a donwload link for the 1.0.2. patch! A game software
company like UBI Soft certainly knows how important patches are for game
software users. Already, some new CM users couldn't find the patch anymore.

The CM team had finally managed to cure (nearly) all the many bugs, but now
somebody cancels www.chessmaster.com and does not provide a new patch download
link. Everyone who has a hompage knows how easy this can be done. I'm afraid
this could harm the image of CM (if not UBI Soft's).

I wonder why it was necessary at all to cancel the website (It shouldn't take
too much time to attach the UBI Soft logo to it)?

I can imagine that the problem is, that the persons in such companies like UBI
Soft are (of course) no computer chess experts, and won't be interested much in
any details... Hopefully they will re-establish the chessmaster site as it was
more or less, with the comprehensive faq info, etc.?

M.Scheidl

P.S.: I was lucky: I bought the program just before the patch was released,
which I downloaded immediatly.
