Mr Veli,

Dan Andersson is correct about the fact that the PIII is a more capable chip but
realistically you will get a good game of chess on a 733 Mhz Intel Celeron chip
with 128 Mb of RAM and a nice 20 to 30 Gb hard disk. You should put the money
in the monitor--at least a 19 inch.

Get Windows 2000 instead of Windows ME.

My personal choice for a computer would be an Athlon 1.0 to 1.4 Ghz machine.
That way you get a machine that would not be obsolete for at least another three
years. You should also get a nice graphics card for it.

In any case, I think that you will be OK with the Celeron and a nice monitor.
NEC or Viewsonic monitors are great. Sony and Nanao monitors are twice the
price.
