Subject: If programs are only IM strength, why bother to play Kramnik??

Hello,
I keep seeing references to DJ, DF etc...as being in the 2700 strength zone.If
this is the case then a match against Kramnik certainly makes sense. But, I also
see certain posters who maintain that programs are still no better than IM
strength. This is quite confusing to someone of limited knowledge about the
programs as I'm certain that no IM's are even remotely close to 2700. Even the
SSDF list has the best programs at 2600+ in 40/2. Is the SSDF list that far off
the mark?
So which is it,IM, weak GM or strong GM??
