new systems available soon. sys is taking orders for their single, 1800 mhz amd for shipment in june. lots of talk on the net, about dual 1800 mhz amd to be released soon. 1800 mhz = 1584 kns with fritz6 dual 1800 mhz = 2970 kns with deep fritz. we all know that kns is not everything. but these two systems should be very strong for chess programs. tiger2 on 1800 mhz vs deep fritz on 3600 mhz would be a strong game. hardware advances are amazing. i still have my 16 mhz fidelity in my closet. his name is fred. sometimes i will get fred out of the closet, put in four batteries, and let him play my 1500 mhz, 450 watt, 768 megs ram on tiger two. i will ask fred if he is sure he wants to try again, and he says yes. (you see the last time i got fred out of the closet, he played my one gig.) so i usually set up for a 10 game match. but after fred plays one game, his eyes roll back in his head, and sweat runs down in his eyes. i am sorry, but fred complains a lot. it is always something with fred---he will come out of book, and start complaining about the lights being to bright, or the chairs are too hard. once he said there wasnt enough ice in his water. he usually cant take anymore than one game. so i remove the four batteries, box him up and put him back in the closet, until he thinks he wants to try again.(the whole time he is screaming "no please---please--not the closet). but the problem is, everytime i get fred out of the closet, the mhz have increased, by a huge amount. freds next opponent will probably be, hmmmmmmm. lets see... chris finds 100 elo increase for dual tiger, running on a dual 4 gig. chris wins world championship, pepsi wants chris and tiger to be in elevator commercial. poor fred.
