Subject: New CM8999 shows promising results against CM_Utzinger

For CM8K fans,

I have defined a personality, CM8999 which has posted reasonable results against
CM_Utzinger at G/30.
The Utzinger settings are as Kurt defined them (including Kostick book) except
for ttable size. CM8999 uses the CM8K book. Both used 16MB ttables on PII
266MHZ.
		W	D	L	Gms	Score
CM8999 		16	25	9	50	28.5
CM_Utzinger	9	25	16	50	21.5

I am in the process of conducting two 50 game 40/40 tournaments on two machines
with CM_Utzinger, CM8999 and CM8K default. These are single-machine contests
but I am trying to ascertain the impact of machine speed on the results and
ultimately how it correlates with the selective search setting.

1) PIII 933 - All personalities using 32MB ttables
2) PII 266 -  All personalities using 16MB ttables

I will report the results when the 40/40 tournaments have been completed. These
50 game contests are small samples, but preliminary testing with the CM8999
settings shows promise. So far the results are:

PII 266		W	D	L	Gms	Score
CM/16		2	3	1	6	3.5
CM8999		1	4	1	6	3.0
CM_Utzinger	0	5	1	6	2.5

PIII 933		W	D	L	Gms	Score
CM8999		4	4	3	11	6.0
CM/32		3	5	2	10	5.5
CM_Utzinger	1	7	3	11	4.5

CM8999 settings - CM8K default except as noted below:
Style:
A/D = -5
SS = 7

Position:
M/P = 5
CC = 105
Mob = 130
KS = 160
PP = 105
PW = 105

Material
B = 3.2
N = 3.1

Add CM8999 to your CM8K repertoire and enjoy.

Steve
