Chessmaster 8000 Patch

  Question
Where can I find the latest patch for Chessmaster 8000?

  Answer
Version 1.0.2 addresses numerous issues, including:

-- Fixed a bug created by v1.0.1 with Custom Boards not displaying properly.
-- Fixed a memory leak in the audio playing code that was used by Tutorials,
Josh Waitzkin's annotated games, Natural Language Advice, and Game Analysis.
-- Fixed a mouse cursor problem in the Set Up Position feature that could cause
the incorrect cursor to be displayed, or cause the mouse cursor to disappear
completely.
-- Added a "Send Engine Command" context menuitem to the XBoard Output Monitor
windows for expert users.
-- Added a special INI file setting for expert users, allowing them to override
the amount of memory allocated for the mentor engine's transposition table.
-- Fixed a bug in the Opening Book Editor in which making a move on the board
could create a duplicate move in the current opening book, if the move already
existed.
-- Fixed a bug in the Import PGN feature of the Opening Book Editor in which
setting the color to use to "White" created frequencies for both colors.
-- Improved the error message reporting for loading PGN games and the Import PGN
feature of the Opening Book Editor.
-- Further improved the WinBoard protocol parser to allow a few more engines to
work properly.

Version 1.0.1 addresses numerous issues, most notably:

-- Greatly improved time usage by the engine in the "Moves per Minutes" time
control.
-- Fixed a problem with the "Seconds per Move" time control, in which the wrong
amount of time to use was being sent to the engine(s).
-- Fixed a bug that could cause the computer to hang (or appear to hang) if
sound failed to initialize during startup.
-- Fixed a bug that occurred on some machines in which Thematic and Simple piece
movement sounds would only play if Chessmaster was not the active application.
-- Fixed a bug that involved a failure to recognize a 3-fold repetition draw in
certain circumstances.
-- Fixed a bug involving fast-moving computer personalities (such as Max and
Lacey) in which the personality could stop responding and eventually lose on
time.
-- Fixed three Windows-2000/NT specific crashes.
-- Made some modifications to the Winboard protocol parser that allow several
more XBoard engines to work properly with Chessmaster.
-- Fixed a bug that would cause The King engine to stop thinking after only
reaching 1024 positions. This bug would only occur with certain combinations of
Time Zone settings (Adelaide, Brasilia and Santiago at least) and versions of
Windows.
-- Fixed several bugs that could cause evaluation scores to be signed improperly
in either the Thinking Lines window or after Game Analysis.
-- Fixed a bug that would prevent game annotations to be saved in the PGN
format, copied to the clipboard or printed.

Be sure to read the ReadMe file that is installed with the patch for complete
details about bug fixes and feature additions in this upgrade.

Voice your opinions to Ubi-Soft as they now control CM8K and all earlier
versions as well, going back to CM5.5K
