Hey I think John Merlino remembered me :0 Thanks John for the CM8K installation! I had the same problem as you have. One of these worked for me, it might also do the same thing for you. Here are your options: 1. Download DirectX 8.0. (On CM8K installation, CM installs DirectX 7a which is incompatible with Windows 2000.) If you have already installed CM8K, uninstall it. After that, install DirectX 8.0 THEN install CM8K. Then after, install the CM8K patch to the same folder as the Chessmaster. 2. Graphic Card suspected problem, have it return to Default Setting. (You can do this at the control panel) Soundcard suspected problem (I suggest you do this to just in case.) Make sure that no other program has a lock on your souncard. If you feel you are not sure about this, first get your Soundcard into Default setting. If that doesn't work, I suggest you uninstall all your media players (i.e. Winamp, Real, Windows media etc.) for the time being--reinstalling them is not that difficult after all. If that doesn't work, go to DirectX diagnostic tool (if you don't know from where to acces it,do a search: start-->search-->find files or folders) change the audio acceleration to NONE. 4. If you already have installed CM8K, uninstall it. Install it again, but this time, install "Minimum." Access the video files through the CD not from your hard disk. Good Luck! Gerard It can really be frustrating, keep your cool you'll get it to work :) On May 13, 2001 at 18:47:52, Nolan Denson wrote: >Hello All > >I am having trougble getting my CM8000 to work via W2000.
