In fact Genius2 was one of the programs I used to love very much - it played like some Petrosian - strong but _extremly_ passive . I was always under the impression to be able to hold or win only to find out that I somehow missed something _again_ ... :-); the endgame was superb - I think it was the first program I ever pitted against another chessprogram btw - it had to play against Mephisto 2 ( which it punished badly ) and against Mephisto MM V ( interesting challenge ; I think Genius 2 was on a 286 then ( my first ever computer ) . I skipped Genius 3 and got Genius 4 next ( probably quite similar to 3 from what I have heard ) . In the meantime I had upgraded my computer to a 486 and it seemed Genius had changed its style completely :-) - it seemed to be much more agressive than Genius 2 ( which might very well be the effect of the 486 , too , I know ;-) ). It still was strong - but I never had the same respect for it than I had had for the Genius 2 - I reinstalled Genius then and never was quite sure which of them was stronger - at least they seemed to be quite different beasts to me . Thanks again for posting your results, Dana . pete
