Quantum physics isn't really my thing, but from what little understanding I do
have, here's a "schematic" picture...

E = Electron
P = Proton
N = Neutron

At a given time, a hydrogen atom might look like this:


                          E




                         NP



But, in quantum physics theory, that electron could be in more than one place at
one time - so it could also be:




        E                NP
