May 17, 2010. ***** NEW REBEL SOFTWARE ! ****** The good news: The long-awaited new Rebel software ships today. Rebel 20 comes with many nice features, the best of them is a nice 3D board. All 10-9-8-7-6-5-4 pieces Nalimov tablebases available. CAP and CAT data in 2 full FMD disks. There are 50 different personalities to play. Opening book with 4 billion moves, all of them commented by Human World Champion A. Shirov, will fit in only 300 GB of hard-disk space. A marvelous program! In this new version there's support for infrared-port comp-comp matches. No cables! The bad news: it STILL runs only in DOS. You'll have to buy a DOS boot disquette from AMD/Sun Microsystems (go to http://www.amd_sun.com/legacysoftware/rarity/index.html), shut-down your Linux OS and restart your computer in DOS mode; of course that limits the hash tables you can use, but since there's no human that can beat a comp who cares about that? Our tests against current WCC Champion Shredder 15, and the strong "Black-hole" Fritz (nothing can scape from its analysis!) show: Rebel 20 x Shredder 15: 7-12, 120 draws Rebel 20 x BH Fritz : 3-16, 105 draws (match is still running) Ratings so far: Shredder 15: 3110 BH Fritz: 3222 Rebel 20: 3057 You can buy a copy of Rebel 20 at http://www.rebel.nl. Price: US$15.00 + shipping. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Ponti
