The extra speed of the binary will very wildly from platform to platform. For my platform, Intel C++ has emitted a faster binary than GCC for everything I have ever tried. It emits a faster binary than BCC for everything I have ever tried. It emits a faster binary than MS VC++ most programs, but sometimes it's only a few percent faster and sometimes its even a few percent slower. I have had people report to me that programs which do much better on my machine do worse on theirs. So try it and see if you like it.
