The only way to know if program A is better than program B against human players is: ... play matches only against human players :) JUST AN IDEA : Ask to 10 IMs and GMs to play a 2 games match against the 10 best programs using ICC or FICS... Same hardware given by manufacturers (Pentium II 400 64 Mega) and times (40/2h + all 1/h), powerbooks and learning functions enabled (availables as updates to customers when the match is over) . Compile a new list , publish all games , evaluations and times and repeat this match every 3 months, then update ELOs and ratings.. The 10 manufacturers could offer 3 prizes to the best scoring players after 4 events (80 games) to make the match more challenging.. Alessandro Morales http://www.aladin.com/chess
