Did Fritz5 play at 2589 compaired to other programs? yes.
Was Fritz5 using extra Ram,Powerbooks etc... Yes.
If you purchase Fritz5 and use all the added extras,
will it play at that strength compaired to the other programs? Yes(it
should). If the other top programs had the added Ram ,Powerbooks etc...
would they also outclass all the others? They might. bare minimum, an
increase in performance. How much of an increase? dont know.
It cannot be denied Fritz5 was tested with "extra goodies"(that can be
purchased) anything extra though is just that (Extra). Since there is
an absolute contraversy to the point that Ed wants his Rebel Ratings
From september on, pulled off and will probably not let any of his
programs be tested on ssdf after, and a lot of other programers are up in
arms. The same people who have seen there programs go from 1st to second
and lower and never have complained like this, especially a group of
them. It seems somthing must not be too fair. They're not all poor
losers or else it would have happened a lot more.If Fritz5 is as strong
as it is, rather than let an important service like ssdf fall apart
Chessbase should be proud of their improved program (and it is improved)
and take the gloves off (remove the extra goodies)and retest under the
same settings as the other programs. No one should be afraid of this.
Fritz5 did play at 2589 with the extras I for one would like to know how
strong without?
