Subject: Doesn't diminishing returns mean less elo per ply?

Rxcuse my ignorance, but that's what I thought it meaned.
Or does it mean that the evalution is EVEN WEAKER after being left a long time,
and not just slower to strengthen itself at every extra ply, than with earlier
plies?
