Subject: How to avoid blocked pawn positions in Deep Fritz vs Kramnik ?!

Author: Jorge Pichard

We have witnessed how simple it is for any IM or higher to paralize the tactical
capability of any good chess program, by avoiding open positions which increase
the tactical chances of most programs. Kramnik even paralized the tactical
possibilities of Kasparov (one of the most dangerous human tactical player
alive) by playing the Berlin system of the Ruy Lopez. Therefore, it is
recommended to implement a subroutine which will enable Deep Fritz to detect
when the position has become blocked by pawns, which will trigger it to
sacrifice the key pawn, in order to open up the position for the program to
excell tactically. A subroutine with this unique evaluation terms will require
pawn hashing technique, since the extra evaluation terms will slow the search
down more than the benefit of the extra knowledge.

PS: Does anyboby know exactly the speed of each processor in which Deep Fritz be
opearated on, Will it be intel or AMD ?

Pichard.
