I believe that Crafty is too speculative about passed pawns but here is some evaluation of other programs that are less speculative. They see clearly more than 0.5 pawn for white at depth 15 (I did not check for Hiarcs but I checked for tiger14) All of them can see Rh1 and they seem clearly better than deeper blue if you assume that deeper blue searched 200M nodes per second (I admit they are not faster than Deeper blue when they get the pIII800) kasparov - Deeper blue 3rr3/8/2p3Pk/1p2nP1P/pP2p3/P1B1Nb1B/2P2K2/5R2 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Hiarcs 7.32: 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 ² (0.29) Depth: 2/8 00:00:00 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 ² (0.29) Depth: 2/8 00:00:00 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 ² (0.29) Depth: 2/8 00:00:00 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh6 ² (0.45) Depth: 3/10 00:00:00 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Bf3 = (0.20) Depth: 3/11 00:00:00 40...Bxh5 41.Rg1 ² (0.45) Depth: 4/13 00:00:01 40...Bxh5 41.Bg2 Nf3 42.Rh1 ± (0.97) Depth: 4/13 00:00:01 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh6 42.Bxe5 ² (0.38) Depth: 4/18 00:00:01 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh6 42.Bxe5 Rxe5 ² (0.38) Depth: 5/18 00:00:02 8kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh4 42.Bxe5 Rxe5 43.Bg4 Bxg4 44.Rxg4+ Kh5 ² (0.45) Depth: 6/19 00:00:04 22kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 ² (0.70) Depth: 7/22 00:00:04 77kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh4 42.f6 Kxh3 43.f7 Rf8 44.Rg3+ Kh4 45.Bxe5 Rd2+ 46.Kg1 ± (1.04) Depth: 7/25 00:00:05 126kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rg1 Nf3 42.Rg3 Nd4 43.Bxd4 Rxd4 ² (0.55) Depth: 7/25 00:00:06 207kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 ± (0.80) Depth: 8/25 00:00:10 559kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf7 43.f6 Bf3 44.Rg1 ± (0.81) Depth: 8/27 00:00:11 667kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf3 43.f6 Kh6 44.Bg4 Bxg4 45.f7 Bd7 46.fxe8Q Rxe8 ± (1.04) Depth: 9/27 00:00:26 1946kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rh1 Kg5 42.Rg1+ Kh6 43.Bxe5 Rxe5 44.Bg4 Bxg6 45.fxg6 ± (1.03) Depth: 10/29 00:01:17 6178kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rh1 ± (1.28) Depth: 11/30 00:03:20 16974kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rh1 ± (1.28) Depth: 11/30 00:04:14 21687kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rh1 Bf3 42.Rg1 Bh5 43.g7 ± (1.39) Depth: 12/30 00:12:34 65559kN (Blass, Tel-Aviv 21.05.2001) kasparov - Deeper blue 3rr3/8/2p3Pk/1p2nP1P/pP2p3/P1B1Nb1B/2P2K2/5R2 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Chess Tiger 14.0: 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh4 42.Rg3 Rd6 43.g7 Nc4 44.Nxc4 bxc4 ± (0.94) Depth: 8 00:00:00 111kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh4 42.Rg3 Rd3 43.Rxf3 exf3 44.cxd3 Kxh3 45.Bxe5 Rxe5 46.Kxf3 ± (1.20) Depth: 8 00:00:00 137kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh4 42.Rg3 Rd3 43.Rxf3 exf3 44.cxd3 Kxh3 45.Bxe5 Rxe5 46.Kxf3 ± (1.08) Depth: 9 00:00:01 464kN 40...Kxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nd7 43.Bg4 c5 44.Bxf3 exf3 45.Kxf3 Ne5+ 46.Bxe5 Rxe5 47.bxc5 Rxc5 ± (1.24) Depth: 10 00:00:04 1084kN 40...Kxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf7 43.f6 Rd6 44.Kf2 Kf4 45.Rg1 Rg8 46.Rg6 +- (1.62) Depth: 11 00:00:08 2330kN 40...Kxh5 41.Rg1 Kh6 42.Bxe5 Rxe5 43.g7 Ree8 44.f6 Bh5 45.Nf5+ Kh7 46.Ne7 Rxe7 47.Bf5+ Kh6 48.fxe7 Rd2+ 49.Ke3 +- (2.48) Depth: 12 00:00:41 10555kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf7 43.f6 Bg6 44.Bf5 Rg8 45.Rf4 Bxf5 46.Rxf5+ Kg6 +- (1.42) Depth: 12 00:00:50 13029kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf7 43.f6 Bg6 44.Bf5 Nh6 45.Bxg6 Kxg6 46.Kf4 Re6 47.Rg1+ Kh7 +- (1.74) Depth: 13 00:01:19 20193kN 40...Bxh5 41.Kg3 Kg5 42.g7 Nf7 +- (1.74) Depth: 14 00:03:14 50078kN 40...Bxh5 41.Rh1 Bf3 42.Rg1 Bh5 43.g7 Nf3 44.Rg3 c5 45.bxc5 Rc8 46.Bb4 Ng5 47.f6 Nxh3+ 48.Rxh3 Re6 49.Nf5+ Kg5 +- (1.80) Depth: 15 00:08:16 134040kN (Blass, Tel-Aviv 21.05.2001)
