Thus far, it looks like CMFun is stronger where it matters {actual chess}.
;-)
I would recommend expanding the test to 1000 games at G/60.
If the CMFun personality wins, include it on the next CD (with Sarah's
permission, of course).
It might be interesting to investigate a diff of CMFun verses default. For the
differences, what might account for a difference in rating? It seems unlikely
that the new settings are optimal, so an investigation of the principles might
prove helpful.
You might be able to get the vast armada of CM users to engage in a study.
I would suggest something similar to the following:
1. Have an automatic system detection function (something like Chkcpu):
C:\>chkcpu
CPU Identification utility v1.7 (c) 1997-2000 Jan Steunebrink

CPU Vendor and Model: AMD Athlon-E 650/700/750/800/850/900/950/1000
Internal CPU speed : 957.7 MHz (using internal Time Stamp Counter)
Clock Multiplier : ---
CPU-ID Vendor string: AuthenticAMD
CPU-ID Signature : 0642
„ „ „ „¤„Ÿ Stepping or sub-model no.
„ „ „¤„Ÿ Model: Indicates CPU Model and 486 L1 cache mode
„ „¤„Ÿ Family: 4=486, Am5x86, Cx5x86

„¤„Ÿ Type: 0=Standard, 1=Overdrive, 2=2nd Dual Pentium
Current CPU mode : Protected
Internal (L1) cache : Enabled in Write-Back mode
which could create an entry for machine type.
2. Have a fascility for sending a program result with the above information to
the mindscape corporation upon game completion. The result would also have a
compact encoding of the settings.
Using a method like this, as CM played online games, you would automatically
gather data about how the settings fare.
