1) the book with most search algorithms for chess (alpha-beta, PVS, PAB,
...) is "Computers, Chess and Cognition". I think it's a Springer book.

if you look at libraries in your state you will find a lot of
information (I have found an article about hash-table access written by
T. Marsland (I think) in a book of Artificial Intelligence).
