Subject: Pocket Fritz ( Or pocket Schredder)

After a fast brows at Chessbase website I found the following interesting
information. It looks like SMK and Chessbase will be the first to enter the
Pocket PC ( not to be confused with Palm..) market with a serious chessprogram.
Perhaps it will be possible to have a match between Pocket Tiger and Pocket
Schredder via IR or Bluethooth serial connection in a few months?

Clipped from ChessBase site:

"Pocket Fritz
This is the name for the first strong chess program to run on pocket PCs running
the operating system Windows CE. Usually these palm-sized computers have
processors running at 100 to 200 MHz and 32 MB of memory, which is sufficient to
support a seriously strong chess program. Chess is also a excellent application
for these devices. It is very easy to whip a pocket PC out of your pocket and
play a quick blitz game against it in a plan or train. You can also use it for
chess training and solve tactical problems or play through games with the
program as your analytical partner. Naturally you should not take Pocket Fritz
to your tournaments, where you might be tempted to surreptitiously consult your
tiny partner during the games.

Pocket PCs from Compaq, HP and Casio

On June 30 Stefan Meyer-Kahlen will put his Pocket Fritz program to a severe
test in two matches against players from the top ten of the world rankings. GMs
Michael Adams und Peter Leko will play rapid chess games against the tiny
computers - a nice change of pace from last year's battles against the
refrigerator-sized high-performance servers at the Frankfurt Chess Classics. But
the GMs cannot be too complacent. Pocket Fritz has the entire chess knowledge of
Shredder 5.32 at its disposal and is sure to be a tough opponent to beat. The
program will be available in July and cost DM 99.90. You will need a pocket PC
like Compaq's iPAC, Casio's Cassiopeia or the HP Jornada running Windows CE 3.0.
