Subject: 533MHZ Alpha computers: How well do the programs play?

I was looking at which computers cost less than $2000 in the
computer shopper web site.  I found that there were some
Alpha computers, running at 533MHZ.  I also noticed that the
operating system that they use is Windows NT.
Has anybody tested any chess programs to see how well they
play?  I know some chess programs are optimized for PC
computers.  Will the increase in raw speed make much of a difference
for these programs?
