Subject: some chess web browsing demographic data

I just want to say thanks to all of you who've visited by web page during
the past month. Though my page is not yet 30 days old, it's doing very
well (by my standards) with nearly 950 total hits so far (699 from unique
visitors).

Currently my LCD Chess web site features a page comparing the Excalibur
LCD Chess unit with ChessMaster running on the GameBoy. Expect a major
addition to this site by mid-July. For those of you not familiar with
the site, it's at: http://home.earthlink.net/~kantack/lcdchess/home.htm

I use a page counter from: www.thecounter.com (It's an invisible counter
one not visible by the user.) I highly recommend "thecounter.com"'s
counters as there are no ads, it's totally free, and it doesn't slow down
web page loading like some of the other counters I've tried.

Anyway, now that I'm approaching nearly 1000 hits. Here are a few of the
many stats generated from my counter. I'll just stick with listing some
major percentages. So totals may not always add up to 100%.

Browser used: 80% use Microsoft's IE (75% for ver. 5.xx 5% for ver. 4.x)
15% use some version of Netscape
(remaining 5% use a smattering of other browsers)

Operating systems:
Over half of you (54%) use Windows 98
14% of you are Windows '95 users
11% of you are using Windows 2000
10% are NT users, 2% are Mac users

Screen resolution:
42% are using 1024 by 768 when web browsing
38% are browsing at 800 by 600 pixels
8% of you are browsing at 1280 by 1024
4% of you are using 1152 by 864 res.
		 2% of you are still using 640 x 480

Hits have come in from 44 different domains so far. (All over the
world.)

Thanks and watch for my page addition in July!
