Hi there, today in mdr3 (German TV) I saw a little bit about a new super computer in Germany (Uni Magedeburg). A computer for 450.000,-- DM from 72 PCs and 118 GFlops (in German: 118 Milliarden Rechenoperationen pro Sekunde) It isn“t a SMP machine. The programmer Stephan Mertens (Tina Team, Tina is the name of the project / machine) wrote me in German: --- Tina macht 118 GFlops (118 Milliarden Rechenoperationen pro Sekunde), ist aber keine SMP Maschine sondern ein grosser Beowulf-Cluster. Aplikationen sollten moeglichst auf MPI oder PVM (Message-Passing Bibliotheken) aufsetzen, das laeuft hier problemlos. --- The questions is now ... is a chess program compatible ? Maybe we can with the Tina Team organize an Event! And maybe ... we orginize an open event and not a top secret event !! Better for people which have interest. I hope so, because I wish me a new Deep Thought and a new match vs. a World Champion. Best Frank
